Do They Have to Bring Religion into It?

When major companies attempt to market their products to the general public, I think it would be helpful for them to remember that Christians are consumers, too.  From numerous companies going out of their way to endorse so-called LGBT pride merchandise to the offensive display based on the Lord's Supper at this year's Summer Olympics opening ceremony, we have to say that some wisdom could be exhibited.

The Bible reminds us to reject what it calls the "counsel of the ungodly" in Psalm 1; its first three verses say this:
1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

We are about to move into the part of the bowl season in which the College Football Playoff will be resuming.  The first game is tonight.  And, earlier today, the Alabama Crimson Tide, narrowly missing out on the CFP, played Michigan in the Reliaquest Bowl.  That used to be the Outback Bowl.  And the Hall of Fame Bowl.

You have a variety of bowl games that are simply known by their corporate sponsorships.  One of which, if I recall, used to be called the Tangerine Bowl many years ago.  It's the second of three bowls in Orlando.

This year's Pop-Tarts Bowl certainly had it unique storylines.  From the University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward deciding to only play one half of the game to players from the same time fighting on the sidelines, there was certainly a bit of drama.  Without Ward, the Hurricanes lost a narrow outcome to Iowa State, which went on to eat a giant Pop Tart after the game.

Then, you had "mascots" dressed as giant Pop-Tarts who were featured during and after the game.

Yes, you may have seen it - a human mascot was lowered into a giant toaster and the "edible mascot" - the aforementioned Pop Tart emerged underneath for the players to enjoy.  Last year, the Strawberry Frosted was chosen to face the heat.  But, lo and behold, that "eaten" pastry showed up at the top of Camping World Stadium, the Hallelujah Chorus was played, and the Pop Tarts people tweeted out, "He is risen!"

NO!  It was a charming and creative presentation until that point.  Then, the brilliant social media team over at Pop-Tarts tweeted out as the chosen mascot was lowered into the toaster following the game, "Mouth Heaven gained another angel."

Pop-Tarts is manufactured by Kellogg's.  Yes, that Kellogg's that, according to Family Research Council, "hasn't been sugar-coating its agenda for years."  FRC went on to say in 2021...
...its latest venture -- a "create-your-own-pronoun" cereal for kids -- is bowling over parents. "Boxes are for cereal, not people," the company insists about its new Together with Pride rainbow edition that donates $3 from every box to an extreme LGBT group, GLAAD, who's out to recruit and confuse your children. Of course, anyone who's been online or walked the aisles of a grocery store knows that some companies will do anything to pander to the radical Left. But this June, these brands are on a collision course with a group of fired-up American shoppers who might just eat them for breakfast.

One might think I am being too serious here. But, the fact is that you have marketers who are intent on making a parody out of Christianity and Christian ideals.  Instead of reverence for God, they mock Him, and His people.

Again, we buy products, too.  And, many believers are intent on supporting companies that reflect and reinforce our values.  The folks over at Kellogg's want to sell product, certainly, but by pandering to the gay community and sending a message to Christians that they are not respected, they are demonstrating a lack of regard for a valuable segment of its audience.  There are certainly ways to hold companies accountable - from praying for their leadership, to communicating directly with them to express concern, to even looking elsewhere for breakfast foods to consume.  We are placed on this earth to honor God and seek to win those who mock Him.
