Good Day

The Lord calls us to seek satisfaction beyond the tangible, so that we may enjoy His presence and the
spiritual fruit that He offers. Isaiah 55 states:
1 "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.
3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you-- The sure mercies of David.

Jesus said that He is the bread of life.  He taught about the rivers of living water, which we know as the Holy Spirit, that can flow in our souls.  God wants us to enjoy His presence and to experience what it means to truly follow and obey Him.  He offers us incredible spiritual resources, which flow from having a right relationship with Jesus Christ.  Through His Word, He shapes our thinking so that we can walk in His righteousness and experience the renewal of our minds.

The Bible tells us how we can experience the presence of God and experience His joy and satisfaction.  In Psalm 16, we can read:
8 I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Each day we have is a gift from God, and we can depend on Him so that we might follow His will and perhaps enjoy a sense of satisfaction at the end of the day.  It is interesting how we may say, "It's been a good day," or "I'm having a bad day" or a "really bad day."  Or, maybe you have felt as the character in the children's book: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Well, here's a fun survey here that can yield some spiritual implications.  According to the website, StudyFinds.org, a study...
...commissioned by the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC), found the average person would be happiest waking up at 8:15 in the morning. A perfect day would entail a sunny, spring-like forecast with temperatures reaching 74 degrees, and respondents being able to enjoy three hours outside. They see themselves spending four hours with their family and three hours with friends, then coming home and hopping on the couch — where they’d use another three hours watching television.
And, bedtime: 10:50pm!

The story also states: "The survey also polled respondents on various 'mood boosters' that bring enough uplift to brighten cloudier days."

Here is the ranking of the top 10:
Finding money in your pocket you didn’t know you had 58%
Being able to sleep in with no alarm set 55%
Lying in bed listening to rain fall outside 51%
A small gesture of kindness from somebody in your life 49%
Petting a dog 48%
Performing a small gesture of kindness for somebody in your life 47%
Realizing it’s a beautiful, sunny day 46%
Long, hot shower 44%
A meaningful, long hug from somebody you love 42%
Seeing a friend you haven’t seen in a long time 42%
Also, according to the study, "Another 37% said listening to their favorite album boosted their mood."

How about these numbers? "...the average participant calculated that they have 204 good days and 15 perfect days per year."

Well, these are certainly some considerations and can contribute to our overall perspective. What is termed, "self-care" is certainly important, and sleeping in, maybe with rain falling outside, can put you in a good mood.  There are relational aspects, such as being on the receiving end of an act of kindness, or performing such an act, or a hug or reunion with a friend.  The top "mood booster" is a bit random - finding money in your pocket?  OK.

The Lord wants us to take good care of our souls, and there are factors that can contribute to our overall positive state of mind.  After all, the Bible says that we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.  I think that the application of the Scriptures into our souls can adjust our outlook and even change our countenance.  His presence can bring what the Bible terms as "fullness of joy."

The practice of holiness can also determine the quality of our days.  We can acquire a deep sense of satisfaction when we know that we are following Christ and walking in obedience with Him.  When we find ourselves walking in victory and experiencing forgiveness when we do stumble.  Knowing that we have pleased the Lord can help to contribute what might be called a "good day" or even a "perfect day."

We also know that we can change our atmosphere, which can also improve the overall quality of the day. As the survey suggests, just over a third of the 2000 respondents said that music was a factor in "boosting" their mood.  I also think surrounding ourselves with positive words can make a difference.  Faith Radio offers solid Bible teaching and uplifting music that can help create an atmosphere that exalts God and satisfies your soul.
