Advent-ure Day 7: Where He Would Be Born

We conclude this week of Scriptures of anticipation of the coming of Jesus by looking at a remarkable verse from Micah chapter 5, pinpointing the birthplace of our Lord.
2"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting."
The Bible states that our Savior would be born in Bethlehem.  This reference was repeated by the Wise Men in Matthew chapter 2, as they sought the Christ Child.

Bethlehem was a small but significant city in the land of Judah, and we see that God orchestrated events surrounding the birth of Christ and that prophecy would be fulfilled.  Mary and Joseph came to that place when the time had come for Jesus, the Messiah, was to be born.  The tool God used: a census, issued, according to Luke 2, by Caesar Augustus.

This passage can be a great reminder to us that can instill confidence in our hearts that God is at work, directing events in our lives that would line up with His will for us.  We can look back and see His leadership and give Him the glory for how He has operated - this can build our faith in a God who is in control, who is sovereign, and is involved in a significant way in human events.
